FDA Approves OTC Omeprazole in Mini Capsule Form

A mini capsule formulation of omeprazole magnesium delayed-release will be available over-the-counter (OTC) later this year, according to Perrigo.
The Company received final approval to manufacture Omeprazole Magnesium Delayed-Release Mini Capsules, 20mg, allowing for a capsule that is 70% smaller than the currently available tablet version. The product is indicated for the treatment of frequent heartburn. It will be marketed under the retailer’s store brand label.
Omeprazole magnesium delayed-release OTC is a generic version of Prilosec OTC.
